Tax Credits from the Commonwealth of Virginia Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP)

The CCS has been approved by the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) to offer Virginia State tax credits for the 2012-2013 year. The intent of the NAP tax credits is to encourage business and individuals to support non-profit organizations providing assistance for impoverished people in the Commonwealth.
Tax credits are available for both businesses and individuals and can be used for donations of cash or services.
The tax credit is equal to 65% of the assistance provided by the business (with a minimum tax credit of $400.40 for a minimum $616 donation) and is in addition to the business’s normal charitable deductions.
The tax credit is equal to 65% of the assistance provided by an individual (a tax credit of $325 for a minimum $500 donation) and is in addition to the individual’s charitable deductions.
Paper work is minimal to obtain the NAP tax credit. The donor fills out a simple form, sends it to CCS with their donation, and several weeks later receives a tax credit notification from the Commonwealth of Virginia.
